Default plenum leak please help.

im getting a hiss noise like a leak from the air intake plenum.
i cant find part # or even the part for that matter.
Seems like it could be the hose on the left above the strut bar definitly left side of the plenum i just hoping its not the plenum gasket.
Anyone know where i can get a diagram of all the hoses that come off the sides of the plenum? Possibly with a purpose description? maby a place to start looking for replacements?

help please

The best place to get info on them is the service manual CLICK HERE

That car doesn't look that old, so I'd be surprised that a hose would need replacement. I take it you've done no mods, so somenthing coming loose should be out of the question too.

Auto part stores used to sell cans of leak detector, you'd spray it around the area where you suspected a leak and the vapor would be sucked into the leak. It would cause your engine to run faster for a second or two so that's how you'd tell where the leak is.

You need a new gasket, its only 30 bucks or so... Start from there.

Listen to the car while running move your ear around and try to pin point a location
inspect gaskets.
fill spray bottle with soapy water... spray area(s) to see if you can find the leak.

or go to parts store for leak detector...

Mine makes that sound also. I dont think its the plenum i think its the hose that leads under the battery compartment. My car runs fine with it making that hiss noise though, and the dealership said its normal which i doubt but... let us know what it is when you find it.

I think the soapy water tricks only work on pressurized leaks, not vacuum leaks. Under pressure, bubbles form on the outside. Under vacuum, leaks would form on the inside and you'd never see them.

As for needing a new gasket, unless you've opened up the plenum, then that's highly unlikely.

Look for leaks around the center bolts of the plenum or the hose connections, especially if one is loose. The hoses fit very tightly.

thanks im going to try that. Ive only looked at night under dim street lights. Its worth a try to save the money and if that doesnt work ill go for the detector.

yea I bought the car used but i havent changed anything except knn filter.
im almost certain its a hose conection. Really id just want a plenum diagram that shows me all the air hose connections ive searched google and courtesy parts to no avail. its such a simple fix that i dont want to take it to a mech.

I gave you a link above that will allow you to find a factory service manual. That has everything explained.
