Going underneath my Z after work tomorrow to visually inspect. If nothing, I will try to replace the sensor.
Since your code came back, maybe your sensor was not bad in the first place...I kind of want to buy your original if you are willing to sell it, to avoid paying $150 at the dealership.

Dealer checked in today...it appears to be a bad ECU. When the car is cold, the O2 sensor does not receive the 12V source and throws the code. When warmed up everything appears fine. I think he said he believes its one of the ECU ground pins. Once they get the new ECU we'll know for sure.

New o2 didn't do anything. The tech ran separate wires from the ECU directly to the o2 sensor and confirmed its not the specific o2 wires causing the error. Everything appears fine, but a calculation error keeps occurring. They have a call into tech support and are going to bring in another '03 to check grounding points. What a f*cking nightmare.

. im having a similar problem, p2a03 code, a/f ratio sensor - sensor 1 b2. nissan is blaming it on my welded in o2 sensor on the same side cat. i think its BS, so they wont replace the sensor until i have new cat. but now im looking into a new cat for 07-08.

Confused. So when he ran wires straight to the suspect o2 sensor during operation the signal was in range expected? My '04 doesn't have the same O2 sensors as yours so it's mystery to me a little.
Obvious I know but have they checked thoroughly for any leaks in the exhaust side? Is it possible that the exhaust is letting in outside air upstream of the O2 sensor, which would throw it out of whack?
With the numerous episodes of rough running I'd pull the plugs and check them again, too.
One thing you can do with COBB AP that CONSULT cannot is log realtime data to file that can be dumped into Excel, i.e. MAF readings, record the variable timing every N seconds, almost every parameter that's useful but under road conditions. Then you dump the log file to a PC. I can't help but think that data would be helpful.
Also yes you can easily pass OBDII with a COBB tune, OEM basic map or not. The trick to clearing a code and passing is you then need to drive it long enough to store a code that says everything is cool. You cannot just clear the codes in the parking lot with your AP, drive it up for testing and pass, no way - someone was clever enough to close that loophole on most if not all OBDII cars.
Under warranty I'd be pushing the folks at Nissan to resolve this, they have to no matter what it takes, esp on an '06. The other thing to be sure of if you are on the cusp of losing the more comprehensive warranty (3/36?) that they log this as a continuing problem. What I am saying is don't get screwed by having it become a new problem out of warranty.
You can go to any dealer for warranty-related service, it may be time to try somewhere else.
When my G was throwing random misfire codes and it was close to emissions inspection time I was seriously pissed, the time to renew the reg was closing in and no sticker, no renewal. Once I found the VC leak problem, cleaned out the 5-6 years of crap in the TB, and replaced plugs I was pretty much good to go. Btw since I posted my dealer replaced the covers under warranty at 58k miles 59 months, dodged about $800+ in out of pocket repairs. Phew...
