Default body control module swap(have a short)

Just found out that I have a short in my BCM, I was wondering what are the issues if any if I swap out the BCM for another one. I had my radar detector running off the dome lights and seems to have broke a wire and shorted out the BCM that runs the dome lights. I have found some used ones, but not sure of the what problems I would run into. I heard something about problem with my keys. I have verified through the schematics and volt meter the short. Another idea is just to bypass the BCM completely and make my own harness to fix the issue.

I had the BCM replaced and they had to reprogram the keys and the key fobs.
