Exclamation 07' Odometer BIG issue

I always check my miles before work because I write of fwork miles. Well, my current job site is only MAYBE 500 yards from my house. This morning when heading to work I logged 44016miles. When I went to leave for lunch I noticed it had ticked to 44020.... I thought WTF? So i paid attention to the number on the trip to my house. Sure enough it ticked to 44022. I assume I have one hell of an issue. The odometer isnt even incorrect per the same distance trip! 4 miles one time and 2 the other?

Anyone having any odometer issues? Im waiting for a buddy of mine who is a service rep to call me back. Im just curious.

Help please! I have a 15mile one way work trip coming up next week for atleast a month! If its off like this, Im in for a hella amount of miles! Who knows how long its been off too.

Mike

No problem w/ my '07. But my speedo does seem to be off a 2 or 3 mph (according to my portable gps) which would affect the odometer but not by much. Yea, take it to the dealer, hopefully it's still under warranty.

your speedometer being off might be due to your tires ^

as far as the odometer, I've never heard of such an issue and as mentioned the dealer is your best and probably only recourse to get it solved

It's a line from Anchor Man, dood.

Bringing attention to your problem either way. I hope you get a resolution to this problem, but in the meantime, why don't you have a warm glass of shut the hell up?

You should report back after a trip to the dealer. Let us know what went wrong.

It couldn't be the tires unless he changed the tires when he got to work.

It's probably a rounding issue. I haven't even paid attention to the odometer...I'm guessing it goes to the nearest whole number.

On trip to work...
44,016.99 miles => reads 44,016 miles
44,020.01 miles => reads 44,020 miles

So you actually drove 3.02 miles but the odometer reads 4 miles.

On the return trip...
44,020.01 miles => reads 44,020 miles
44,022.99 miles => reads 44,022 miles

So you actually drove 2.98 miles but the odometer reads 2 miles.

I do have 19" tires, but they're almost exactly the same height as my oem's. Anyway, it was off even when I had my stock tires. The gps agrees exactly with my Murano. My Z is showing a lower mph (so less miles) than my gps so I don't worry about it.

hahaha way to make him rage. wow.

I had a 68 camaro that would go up 1 mile every city block. when I sold it the odo read 520,000 miles, it probably had closer to 75k. don't let it happen to your car! it's a dealership issue.

REALLY?? We all should ask ourselves before posting: Does this help the forum? Does this benefit anything? This forum has lots of great info and should not be looked at as a place of negative junk. This should not be the result:

Anyway, back to the OP's issue. No odometer issues here on a '08 HR. But my speedo sometimes "goes stupid" and sticks, (it resets soon after with no apparent issues - seen on my '06 and other 350Zs). Don't think this is your issue but that's what I have that's maybe related. BTW - I have an after market GPS that's off also when compared with the speedo. That's with or without stock wheels and tires. My Garmin shows me going about 2mph slower than the indicated speedo. As stated above go to the dealer and please report back here the result to help others on the forum.
