people say that relying on just jack stands is not safe..i'm guessing 2 jack stands for lifted 2 wheels.(2~3 tons each) If i use 1 jack underneath the frame and another one behind the wheel, would it be safer than using a ramp?

When it comes to safety especially a car falling on you one cant be too safe considering most of the time if something happens most of the time no one is around. It really depends what the equipment is rated at. I've seen many ppl fully supend a car in the air with 4 jack stands on each corner.
