Default help Nissan will not start

So I changed my plugs and added a plenum spacer. Now my car will not start. When you turn the key it acts as if there is a short of some kind????

Any Ideas on what is wrong. I figure it has to do something with my plugs. A few of my covers (to the plugs)e seems loos even after screwing them down... Should these be tight? Please help

Rob

it turns over for a second then the batty gauge just drops from 12 down to nothing.. Like there is a short all of the sudden.. then it just clicks and all most dies out.... Has to do something with the plugs i change. Could i have damaged the coils to the plugs? Is that pussible?

went and checked all plug connections... I have no idea what the issue is??!! turns over once or twice and then it clicks like you when the battery is dead.... The gauge will read 12v at half turn wit hkey... then when I try to start the above happens... So battery is not dead..

Did you disconnect your battery when you installed the spacer?

On a side note, why did you change your plugs?

According to Nissan they are good for 100K miles

Cranks for short amount of time then just clicks = weak battery... unless I am reading this wrong.

cars at 80K plus figure I would change plugs while placing spacer for easy access.

I have full 12 volts the entire time until I turn the key to start the engine it will turn over once and then click click while the volt drops down. I will look at the battery tomorrow. Just have a hard time thinking it is the battery when the car ran perfectly until I messed with it.

Def sounds like the batt. Hook it up to a jump box.

Check battery connections, make sure they are tight.

Just asking a question here since it may explain what's going on.

Does the ECU do something special as the engine is being started, like modifying the valve timing so there is little or no compression for the first couple revolutions? That would make it easier for the starter motor to get the engine turning fast enough so the flywheel would carry it through the compression stroke when the ECU switched the valve timing back to normal.

If that's the case, the weak battery/poor connection wouldn't make much difference until the ECU switched the valve timing, and that put a load on the starter motor.

Thank you all it was a low voltage battery. I jumped the nissan and it started. Of course I have other issues now but it did start.. new issues: first it seems as if I am running on only 5 plugs. I double check my plugs and plug gaps. Every thing seems to be in order with the plugs. I believe there is a leak in the spacer. Could this cause low power and rough idle? I plan to redo the spacer soon. thank again with all your help everyone!!!! I will get my baby running right soon!

Sounds like a leak, or the plenum is rubbing the strut bar.

A lot of people have had problems with the plenum spacer leaking after install. Make sure you didn't pinch anything in it like the rubber piece that sits around the oil fill hole. Also, check to make sure the plenum isn't rubbing the strut bar. When you take the bar off to redo the spacer you'll be able to tell if it is if there are polished spots on the plenum.
