Default license plates lights wont work

So I recently had the car repainted, and before I left the guys at the shop let me know the license plate lights were not coming on.
I finally got to go to advanced auto parts and bought a new set. However after I installed them, and turned on the car, the lights just wont come on.

time to ask the pros, What do I have to do next?
Check a fuse, the wiring? the connections? Where do I start?

I appreciate any help guys. thanks

Had the car in the shop again for extra bodywork. While I was there, I got to check the wiring. The shop had forgotten to hook the main module off the wiring. Plugged in and works fine now.
