Default A/c colder?

Is there a way to make the A/C blow colder air? My 05 Z blows "cool" air but i can never feel the Coldness. Especially when i compare my car to g35, camry and subaru, my car definitely blows "cool" air. I wonder if this is normal for 350z. If not, can you make it blow freeezing iccyyy cold air?

It's 05 and bought it used about a month ago. How much does it cost to recharge and let say this temperature of air blow is normal and recharger the A/C, would i make it blow colder air?

^^^ most likely. Mine is ice cold! Theres a tester for it... its a thermometer that goes into your vents. Turn the AC on full blast and it should hit 38-40F degrees in a few minutes.

You can buy A/C rechargers at Autozone for like $20 to $30. I have done 3 different cars and its pretty simple to do. Just read the directions.

How many oz do i need to recharge? I don't know if i can do it without messing it up
If the a/c is leaking then shouldn't i fix it instead of sealing it? it might be leaking or somehow the gas went out i think..

Try changing the refrigerant to the one at Walmart, called Arctic Freeze. This stuff get's icy cold really fast. And I don't get that funky mildew smell after it's been off either.

Cold and cool are ambiguous. You can check outlet air temperature with a thermometer.

ANybody in Socal has the a/c recharger with pressure gauge attached to it? I would like to borrow it. I can go to your house, and use it. I'll buy my own can

Most rechargers have a gage so you don't overfill. Get the big one with the reusable hose and gage for $20, the refills are only $10-15. They also usually have leak sealant to fix small leaks. I recharge my Maxima each summer. To fix the leak a compressor and condenser is going to cost $400-500 just in parts or just pay $15-20/year to recharge. If you can put air in your tires, you can recharge the AC. Much easier (and enviromentally friendly) than the R12 freon days.

yeah having your own recharge kit is a good investment, and pretty cheap too!

-about the mildew smell, turning off the A/C but keeping the air still blowing, about 3-5 mins before actually getting home (or whatever location) will fix the smell. This will dry your filter, opposed to just turning off the car when the A/C is still running lets the condensation build and eventually lead to mildew....eeww

my girlfriends AC air smells horrid in her car. she never listens when I tell her not to run it prior to turning the car off, i guess its not worth it to her................but then she always comments on my Z's fresh AC smell LOL

DEFINITELY
Check the pressure out FIRST! Its VERY easy to blow up your condenser or other parts, and VERY expensive and a PITAss to repair!!

You may add some www.energyrelease.com, as I do/did in every conversion from R12 to 134 since 134 has less heat transferr abilities. There is probably some "additive" super cooler at auto parts house as recommended, but more $$. Energy Release is good stuff and great for reducing oil temps, drilling fluid, etc as well...using it since turboing my first car (Miata) in 1996.
Great stuff )IMHExperience, anyways..

lol if you only have 30 bucks to choose between a fluid change or a recharge on the AC, do whatever is more immediately important. Then do the other when you have more cash... we cant sit around all day and list the opportunity costs for every decision you have to make

You can try and just add some refrigerant like the others have said but i would highly recommend taking it to a shop where they can properly recover, evacuate, and recharge the system. You may get it to blow cold by adding a little freon but you will not have the proper charge in the system. If you think you have a leak give the system a good lookover, usually you'll find alot of dirt in a spot that is leaking as the oil that leaks will attract dirt. Also are you getting good air flow through the vents? Check cab filter and make sure it isn't covered in crap. If you want to add a little freon i can give some suggestions.

-be carefull when attaching and removing your adaptor to the low side, most of the kits you get at an auto parts store just clip on and you risk bending the schrader valve(schrader valve will most likely leak). If you have access to a gauge set most of them have the thumbwheel attachment to properly connect to the system

- When your a/c is on the line coming from the cab to the compressor should be cold and the line from the compressor to the condenser should be hot(don't lay your hand on it but give it a quick touch)

-pressures can be tricky, alot of kits have green, yellow, red on pressure gauge for charge, just follow this.

I think it blows OK but i'll check it out if i have time. Wait, do 350z have an in cabin filter?
I'm still waiting for someone who is kind enough to let me borrow their pressure gauge

Out of coincidence, my Z has that smell from the a/c on start up. Then it goes away. Is that from a garbage a/c recharge?
