350Z fan blow ups potentially killing engine
Hi guys big problem from the land of OZ,
As a 350 owner from new (2004) I have just experienced a major problem recognised in the US but not in Aussie. Said vehicle recently boiled under the house having been run but left sitting. The Zed beeped wildly and was shut down spewing coolant. Fearing the worst it was left sit for a few hours (refreshed with good old Ethyl) and thank the lord turned over and ran. Roadside services came in the next day and identified (as expected) the main fan had failed. As it turns out both fans have. Zed is now sitting in the dealership with Nissan Australia in denial there could possibly be a warranty claim. As posted on this site it is clearly evident fellow Zed's have suffered the fan failure predicted by Nissan US. I have sent the link to the dealer and await response... I am not hopeful despite all 2004-07 came out of the same factory.
That both fans have failed, and this is supported by some Nissan techs, indicates the main failure has stressed the other. As said to me "you would not know if one had failed and the other (thermatic) was supporting it". That my AC was struggling (in hindsight) supports this theory.
ALL your support will be gratefully (in the form of evidence) received.

Apparently you've already found the notice - all it does is extend the warranty.
Here's a thread on the subject.. https://my350z.com/forum/maintenance...fan-motor.html
BTW - your engine will never blow up. As you've discovered, it shuts down on over- temperature.

One of my fans failed at about 45,000 miles (2004 350Z). My local Nissan dealer replaced it under warranty.
Initially I did not know that the fan failed......but I noticed that my air conditioning air was warm. My local Nissan dealer looked at the car and told me that it was a failed sensor, and that it would cost me $651 for them to "take apart the dash" and repair it. I DID NOT BELIEVE THEM.....I drove the 350Z for months with this problem. Eventually I discovered that the FAN was not working. When the dealer replaced the FAN.....my air conditioning worked like new.
