Default Clutch slipping at 24K miles - dealer says warranty doesn't cover!

For many months, I've noticed that the clutch slips and grabs unevenly just before full engagment (top 1/3 of clutch travel). I took it to a dealer, who confirmed the behavior and informed me that I need a new clutch. After speaking with his manager, my service advisor informed me that the clutch is considered a wear part and is thus not covered under warranty.
I've never raced the car; the condition of the rear tires shows this clearly. Am I entitled to a new clutch, or am I stuck paying for a new one? If so, I think I've had it with this car and with Nissan.
Thanks for your input.

The clutch is a "wear" item. No way it should go out at 24k though. Not to offend you, but how long have you been driving a clutch? I know many people who, for some strange reason tend to "ride" the clutch. Just a thing they do with their foot with out really realizing it (until I point it out) even though the smell is undeniable.

Good luck!

I've only ever owned cars with manual tranmissions. I got over 100K miles on the original clutch of my '88 Camry. I never ride the clutch, intentionally at least. Foot off the pedal unless I'm shifting. It's certainly never smelled burnt...
This is clearly a design or workmanship issue. If Nissan isn't going to admit this, I will have to get rid of the car. Do I have any recourse?

depends on how much time you want to spend & wait. Perhaps if you push NNA you could get it replaced. I think your problem is that there just aren't that many Z's out there with 24k on them. Only when other Z owners reach that mileage & experience the same problem will Nissan acknowledge there may be a problem.

Keep us posted, and good luck!

call NNA and ***** ***** *****....But do it nicely and suggest to them in some way you are considering getting rid of their car due to repair issues and dealer related issues...I had them try the same thing on me with my leather seats @17,000 miles and was told leather wasnt warantied on a FULL waranty...
