Default Need HELP figuring out engine problem

Hi everyone.

I have an 05 Z and am having some problems. This weekend I installed 6 new pre-gapped ngk spark plugs iridium IX using the directions in the service manual. I also replaced the stock intake plenum with the Kinetix plenum using the step-by-step directions included. On top of that, I installed the JWT pop charger air filter as well.

So, I am some-what decent with cars, so that's why I did these pretty simple mods myself. But now my car seems to be acting up.
When I hit the gas pedal, especially around 2.5k rpm, it seems to make a very throat-y sound and appears the engine is some-what "sputtering". I do not feel a loss in power and at idle it feels completely normal and smooth. When I rev the engine while in park (AT), everything also appears smooth.

Can not figure this out, but it sounds like crap and is really worrying me that something went wrong???

The only other mod I have on other than what I just described, is a Greddy Evo TT Exhaust ( it's about 4yrs old).

Prior to this weekend, my car had no problems. I am just under 60k miles.

I have rechecked all the spark plugs to make sure they are at the correct gap. I have also checked the hoses to make sure I plugged them all back in. I currently to not have a check engine light. I also thought maybe it was running sluggish because the MAF sensor might be dirty so I sprayed it down with CRC MAF cleaner and haven't noticed a difference.

Three things I noticed while doing my work this weekend: 1) when i took out the back plug on both the passenger's and driver's side they had a little bit of wetness on the top (looked like oil and was not on the threads or the actual spark wire) 2) I slightly "bent" one of the rubber boots on one of the ignition packs while trying to get it out, it seemed fine and "snapped" right back into place 3) I touched the round metal "port" inside the throttle body when I had it off and pushed it open a few times with my finger.

If anyone has an idea on what the hell I messed up to cause this problem PLEASE let me know. Thank You!

The "port" on the TB... Do you mean the actual butter fly valve? Moving that with your finger won't harm anything as long as you didn't push it beyond it's mechanical limits aka force it past it's max open/close.

You've verified the plug gaps... That's good. I was going to suggest that. When you say "top" of the plugs, do you mean the electrode end (the part that goes inside the cylinder) or the plug end?

How long have you driven the car since the mods?

Yes, the actual butter fly valve (i wasn't sure of the correct name), I pushed it a few times with my finger, but I did not push it past its mechanical limit.

The top of the spark plug I was trying to refer to would be the plug end that goes into the rubber boot of the ignition pack.

I did the mods this past Saturday 8/21 and it's my dd, so it has been 4 days worth of driving since the mods, today is when I rechecked the gaps and noted that they are set correctly.

Thank You for trying to help me figure this out.

Does anyone have a diagram of the proper wiring sequence of the ignition packs/spark plugs. Or could someone post a couple side-view pics of their engine so I can double check mine. Maybe some how I F****d up and switched one?? I think I did one at a time, but can't remember.

I've mixed up coil wires twice and it gave me MIL pretty much instantly.
Here's a quick look, I'll complete later if time permits. Each has black + white/green or blue stripe +:
Bank 1 Passenger Side
1 grey/green stripe
3?
5 purple

Bank 2 Driver Side
2 Green/black stripe
4 Solid Grey
6?

This is on an 03, if its different colors on yours let me know and I'll get someone to send me the ALLData digram
