Default need help

hello i'm in a little pickle here, i bought a 2004 automatic ( i'm a girl ) recently and the indicator for park and drive etc does not display. Also my brother said that it feels like it stays in 3rd on all rpms, no shift shock or shifting. The manualmatic ( slap shift ? ) does not work either. I took it to a local shop and they said i would have to go to NISSAN ONLY to get my computer that is INSIDE of my transmission fixed because they can't program anything? is this true or are they just pushing me away because i'm a ditsy girl? need help before i go to the Nissan Dealership. any help would be much appreciated.

The last thing a shop is going to do is "push you away" because you're a "ditzy girl." They'll either be scum bags like a lot of shops and rip you off, or be honest and just fix the car.

Yes, it is true that some shops don't have the equipment to program the cars computers. Unless you want to learn a lot about cars to fix this issue, just take it to Nissan.
