Default 2003 z...gas tank wont fill up all the way!

I am having an issue to where my 2003 Nissan 350z gas tank only fills up maybe to 4 gallons MOST of the time.

Every once in a while it fills most of the way up, but it almost always stops at 4 gallons give or take a few.

With the pumps they way they are, how they click off automatically, I cannot keep filling.

Has anyone else had this issue? It is really frustrating. Thanks!

that means it full man.. haha.. u think its still empty part way?
its not NOT filling up... its that your gauge just doesnt read it as such.

use the search bar, "fuel gauge".. tons of threads on it already.

same problem here but mine usually fills up to about 12-14 gallons then stops. what i do is to flip the nozzle upside down. that usually does the trick.

Believe there was a recall on the gas filler tube for 2003s...your Z probably did not have it performed.

I get that sometimes too though. I think some pumps are more sensitive than others. Two things you can try are 1. another station or pump, 2. don't push the pump in all the way...I call this the "just the tip" method.

I had the same problem for a while. Now i just barely squeeze the nozzle, rather than squeezing all the way...works fine.

Thanks for the advice. I will try turning it upside down & see what happens. I am trying to sell the car and I want it working right when I sell it...or at least be able to tell ppl what the issue is.

It must be the pumps you are using.
Go to another station.
Thought you were referring to not being able to get a "full tank".
Yes,this has been covered many times.Even though your fuel light is
flashing...looks like you are on fumes, there is about 2 gals left in the tank.
Nissan sort of thought that many people will screw up.They did'nt want them
to run out of gas. They programmed the gauge with a little "cushion" so you can make
it to the nearest gas station.I've never been able to get more than 18 gals in my tank at
a fill up.

My 2005 Z just did this about 10 minutes ago. It occasionally happens, I can't remember the last time I filled up at this station but I'm 99% sure it did the same thing last time I was there. Usually after I just go to a different station and it works fine.

Check the applicable service bulletins and recalls on your car. If it is a recall Nissan may fix it for free.

Had this happen once before at a shell station and just recently at a Costco gas station...Its really annoying when the pump just clicks off every 2 seconds.
It must be certain pumps just dont work well with our gas holes? lol

i am not complaining that i cant get it all the way full....im talking about only being able to put in like 4 gallons total before it starts clicking!!!!

i would be ok if i was getting like 10 or 12 in! lol

yeah... yeah....i have only owned the car since oct of 2010 but I am downgrading to a cheaper vehicle and trying to become completely debt free.

My only debt is my vehicle and my mortage. I want to reduce it to just my mortage. That is all. Good day!

That's bad for the car, and your wallet.
