Been having a tick in the engine region. I've been told its a stuck lifter, my timing chain is off, and needs to be re-calibrated, and while at a meet some guy in a G told me it was my VTC? It's a 03 Enthusiast, 78k mile, i bought it at 72k,m . The tick came along after 1000miles of driving it and hasn't came off. I've done the oil change twice, first at 75k miles with Mob1 full synth, 5w-30 with M-108 filter, and second at 78k using same oil, just different filter using M-110 here is a quick vid of the sound. It primarily comes from the passenger side(right side of engine) in the middle section. The sound does not get louder, just goes faster as my RPMs elevate. Lifter? We have cams and springs in buckets.

Inejectors make some noise.

 

I am aware that i have smaller pulleys. Idk if in when doing that transaction messed with any internal stuff.
Have you ever heard this on a Z?

 

Smaller pullies? You mean you have a
Understudy kit? That has 0 to do with timing.

Your timing is done by a chain behind the front timing cover.
