need expert advice

i have a 2003 350z with approx 68k miles almost there and i bought it in jan of 2008 with around 49k miles and i drive it about 5k-6k miles a yr well anywho im wondering when would be a good time to change the waterpump

my good nissan mechanic friend told me those seldom go out and i should have nothing to worry about

my one friend who had a z said his was still original water pump around 99k miles

so what would you do
