![Question](https://my350z.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif)
My a/c compressor locks up when the a/c is turned on so I bought a new and want to replace it myself. It looks pretty straight forward to install. Just unbolt the 3 bolts connecting it to the motor and disconnect the 2 lines from the compressor as well as disconneting the electrical plug that is attached to the compressor itself. Is this correct? and also Im skeptical of what is in the lines and dont want to harm myself when unhooking them. Is there a way to do it safely?

Hooooooookay, so here's the Earth...j/k
Your a/c system is highly pressurized. If you want a demonstration of how much pressure, pull off the high pressure line cap and lightly touch the Schrader valve with a screwdriver while covering it with a towel. In other words, if you just unbolt the a/c lines and pull them off the compressor, you will have a violent explosion of refrigerant all in your face, all over your motor, etc. I had my system emptied professionally and even THEN, when I pulled off one of the lines, it popped off abruptly from the residual pressure.

You can download the factory service manual on here, but the abridged version is:
Remove intake
Remove undertray
Remove acc belt
Unbolt a/c lines
Disconnect electrical connector
Unbolt from motor (make sure to have it supported somehow or it will just fall off)
Then you just need to get creative with angling it out, but it's a very easy procedure.
