transmission problem
so lately i have been getting a metal grinding noise when im in first gear. i took it to a shop and they said that my first gear bearing it bad and that i will need a completely new transmission. is this an actual thing or am i being spoon fed ********?
can you get a video of the sound? yes there is a needle roller bearing under 1st gear but that bearing failing would be almost unheard of, and even if it did i doubt you'd be able to hear it with the engine running. also, that bearing would not be moving while you are in 1st gear, it would be stationary as 1st gear is locked to the shaft when you are in 1st, that's how a transmission works. it spins on the shaft (freely) when you are in 2nd through 6th and reverse, but in 1st, it locks to the shaft and transmits the torque.
they are full of crap if they are suggesting that the needle roller bearing under 1st gear is making noise while you are in first, lol.

You would be the first for a shaft bearing to go bad in these transmissions. It's a very low probability and I would look into something else being the cause of the grinding sound. Get it up to speed and then push the clutch in. If it's still grinding while it's coasting then it's not the transmission.
Used transmissions are pretty cheap. The updated cd009 sell for under 1000$.

thanks for the advice, i took it to the dealership to have it looked at since i wanted a second opinion. they told me that the transmission on the z is just noisy and the sound is normal, and that even if i replaced the transmission i still might hear the sound.
