Need HELP!!! Trunk button not working??

I have an 04 base model and the button right above the license plate just stopped working and now I can't open my hatch any ideas??

I know about the one inside the car but my hatch struts are shot and the trunk being so heavy it doesn't pop up

Get a helping hand, get trunk open from the inside pull cable. Figure out if it the switch or reliese that is bad.
