Recently I've been having issues with my 2005 Z (only 83k miles on it also) going into Reverse while it's hot so I took it to the dealership due to the fact that I don't have the tools to check it out myself. They recommend that I get a new transmission which they say will be $4,500. However I'm driving my car from California to Ohio tomorrow and don't have the time/money for that. Does anyone have possible solutions or things to look for? If the transmission is indeed bad, i was thinking of a 6spd swap, or possible 2JZ-GTE swap when I get back from deployment.

 

Would be easier to just sell it and buy a manual then do whatever you want with the motor.

In the meantime it depends what's wrong with your tranny sounds like it's shot and you have an option of buying a used one with lower miles. I'm sure their quote was for new
