Default heat and ac control buttons help

I recently spilled some soda and it got behind the heat and ac control button/dials. I've pulled on them and they don't seem to be coming off and I don't want to break them. Do I have to remove the waterfall to get them off? Your help is appreciated.

Drive safe!!!

The best I remember, you need to get behind the panel and remove the control assembly.
There are some white clips...Don't think the ***** by themself come off.
Do a search on this.I believe there was a write up by a owner that had a similar
accident.

Its really not all that difficult. Just look up a diy on installing a new headunit and it'll guide you through how to take everything you need to apart. It only took me like 10 or 15 minutes to get it all apart if I recall correctly.

It's easy as cake and you don't need to take the entire center dash assembly out to get to the climate control dials. You'll need to remove the shift **** and the trim piece will just pull up and out. There's going to be some insulation in there, and if that's got soda all over it, it's gonna be sticky. Use some blue masking tape to mask off the areas around the trim piece, especially on the seat heater switches (or blanks if you don't have heated seats), because the clips in the shifter trim will scratch them if you're not careful. Don't try pulling the dials out from the front - the three dials come off as a complete unit from behind. Finally, if you're going to try cleaning them as opposed to replacing them, then use something like
DeOxit spray DeOxit spray
. It won't kill the electronics like WD-40 or anything water-based would. Don't be surprised if the dials are dead and you have to replace them though.
