Default Few questions about my car I just purchased

I know all you guys can rattle off some of these answers quickly and searching doesn't help me much with them.

1. My car appears to have stock mufflers but has an annoying rasp from 2000-3000 RPMs. What is the best way to resolve this issue? and what could the previous owner have done to cause this? (cats?) I have noticed the check engine light on for O2 sensors

2. Changing a oil pressure switch. Do I need to drain the oil or can this be done by just removing the switch and replacing it losing minimal oil?

3. sometimes when starting out the car appears to hop. (not wheel hop I don't spin tires) but just appears maybe a bushing is bad causing the car to hop sometimes.

4. When cruising in second gear going aprox. 10-15 MPH. If I press the gas to the floor quickly my car almost appears to stall and then pick up quickly. It will jerk you and then take off fine. What could cause this?

5. Finally. I am getting on average 15 MPG. I have no heard of this low number with any other Z and i have no clue what could cause that much of a drop in MPG with just having intakes on the car.

This is a 2007 base 6 spd. I do NOT drive the car hard at all ever. I shouldn't be seeing these issue so any help on any of these questions would be great. Thank you guys!!

I'd check the cats.Is the car loud?Do you have test pipes. This would cause the rasp
and 02 sensor problem.Have you had the car on a rack to check for exhaust leaks?Oil pressure switch can be changed without draining the oil.
How do you know its bad?.Sounds like clutch problems with some of the other
comments.THe low mpg can be due to the 02/cat problem&clutch slipping.

Your car probably has test pipes rather than catalytic converters. Removing the oil pressure switch can sometimes be problematic. You need to be extremely careful replacing it because cross threading or tightening too tightly can crack the aluminum oil pan.

The driveability problems you are experiencing can be best diagnosed by a qualified mechanic.

Did these problems exist when you test drove the car?

Yes these problems did exist. I didnt notice the hopping and check engine light ( can clear it and will last almost 100 miles before coming on again) and also i know it is the oil pressure switch because my gauge reads 120 psi when the key is on the "on" position and stays pegged. I have no got the car on a rack yet to review the exhaust and it appears to be louder than stock.

The mpg mileage you read was probably recorded from the last owner's driving habits and hasn't averaged yours yet (maybe they drove around the city a lot or maybe you do?) 14 mpg is still really low for a Z even with constant stop and go traffic. There is also something funky with your exhaust like everyone else said. Could be a leak or a crack. I'm not a mechanic but I suggest you going to one and see what they can do.

1: Test pipes or bad cats.
2: pull the pressure sensor and change it.
3: Diff bushing is shot.
4: Knock sensor is bad....should read a p0327 if it is.
5: Get the codes read and write them down.
6: EDIT, clean the mafs too.

Thank you for the reply. I did get the codes read and the only codes were P0430 and P0420. As for the MPG I calculated with two tanks of gas on my own to get the MPG. It was 14.7 he first tank, and 14.3 second tank. I do live in southern Florida so much stop and go. I will have to clean the MAF and also check knock sensor. Great place to start tho

Your MPG for stop and go traffic for that year is about right. My 2008 Touring has been getting between 13.7 and 14.2 mpg since it was brand new.

Oh boy. And I thought moving to Florida was going to be better than Connecticut in terms of traffic. I usually get 20-27 mpg here because my car is mostly a highway warrior. I would hate to have the same problem your having when I move to south florida.

Well around those times around here isn't all that great either, I pick Fort Lauderdale because everyone said it has a lot of things for young people and a lot of other young people to hang around with. I wanted to go to Miami but i'm not sure I want to live there especially with the high crime rates.
