Angry A/C Not working, it's effing hot in KS please HELP!!! :dunno:

Hey guys how's everyone doing, well this past 4th of july weekend I drove off to MN, and on the way there I noticed on my gauges that the outside temperature went crazy, it started reading from 36F to -17F and it went up and down gradually until it finally read "---- ICY", when I woke up next morning tried turning the A/C on then I didn't hear the compressor kick in, it still blows air but no cold air, I read about the outside ambient temperature sensor might mess up the reading and make the HVAC think that is cold outside and not make the compressor work, I would really appreciate the help if any of you have encountered this problem, it's hot in kansas and wearing acu's all day doesn't really help, thanks in advance!

i think you already answered your question.. change the sensor and see what happens. it seems pretty obvious its a temperature sensor messing up if your gauges are reading way off. and it seems likely if it read 33 F it would not kick the compressor on because it would more than likely turn your compressor into an icepop.

well you know the compressor wont kick on if it low on freon either.... may not be the issue but it is something easy to check

I don't think the ambient temp sensor would cause the A/C not to work unless you use the "auto" function. Even then, it should be measuring cabin temperature, not ambient temperature.

I too would guess you have a leak in the system. Check and see if you have any pressure in the system.
