i guess it could happen, but doesn't sound right to me.
i would have take it to another Nissan shop and get another opinion
Yeah, I thought about doing that but since they assured me that if it doesn't fix the issue they won't charge me i just went ahead with the repair. The only other Nissan dealership around here is like a 1/2 hour away.
I can tell you now, Nissan's timing chain commonly has issues but only at cold startup. The loud chatter usually only lasts for a second then goes right away. The plastic tensioners wear out like they said.
Now of course I'm not ruling out possibility of the chain going completely bad, but what I said above is very common and normal according to Nissan. The fact that this problem arose right after you installed those mods makes me think it's not the timing chain.

At cold start up she def is quite. The knocking only begins after she's been running for about a min or so... It starts in very quiet and gradually gets louder to the level that's in the video and only can be heard at idle. As soon as I start driving it's undetectable. If it was the timing chain I would think that it would do it at all times (when cold & while driving), which it does not. I did reinstall the plenum and am 100% positive that it is installed correctly... and the thing is that the noise is not coming from the top of the motor, but rather from the drivers side front of the engine behind the bumper just above the belts...?
