Sensor problem

Hello, my service engine soon came up so I brought it up to mechanic. He tested and found out the both 02 sensors are on. We replaced one sensor, had it reset and drove for 100 miles. Within 100 miles the light came up again. He re tested and still say both of them are bad. Anyone can give me suggestions? Thanks

no but I have bought it used. And he moded it a long time ago but then sold it back to original parts. When i bought it, he was getting 12 mpg city. Not sure if that is something but it seems the mpg is very low
