Default Dealership Problems

I got my 1st oil change done on Dec. 30th at Gordie Boucher Nissan in West Allis, WI. I bought the car ay this dealership and this was my first oil change that they did for free. The car has been parked in the garage since I got home from the oil change. On saturday Feb. 7th I went out to install grounding kit and pop charger, back the car out of the garage and open the hood and thats when I noticed oil everywhere looked around and noticed that the oil filler cap was missing. I checked the oil and I was 1.5 quarts low. I called the dealership on Monday Feb. 9th talked to the service manager and he told me all they could do is reimburse me for the cost of a new oil filler cap. He wanted me to buy the cap and drive to the dealership which is 3.5 hours away and then they would pay for the cap. He also said that he didn't firgure that the missing cap was from the oil change because it has been 6 weeks even though the car has been parked. He told me someone probably stole the cap because he's herd of that happening. I just wanted to let everyone know not to get service work done at this dealership because if they can't change oil I'd hate to see what would happen if you had a serious problem.

I don't know which is more unbelievable...them telling you to drive 3.5 hours to get reimbursed or that he actually tried to convince you that oil cap theft is a reality.

The oil cap theft problem is a reality. As a former member of the joint task force on oil cap theft, I have witnessed, first hand, the lengths that these devious individuals will go to get their hands on a high dollar oil cap. I've seen hoods ripped off cars and engines removed and tossed aside after retrieving the coveted caps. The problem stems from the current practice in a number of third world countries of using the caps as currency. A pristine unfeathered 350Z oil cap in Zimbwanicap, for example, will fetch either two (2) pounds of compressed combustable camel dung or a half a chicken. It is estimated that 3.5 million stolen oil caps are smuggled out of the US each year. A recent sting operation netted 50,000 stolen caps which were being smuggled inside defective 350Z transmission cases bound for the Far East. The case is still pending however as Nissan claims that the caps are actually a new form of sychronizer that they are testing out on their high performance vehicles.

The Nissan dealership network just plain sucks.
