Default Need help with some things with my car

Hey guys, I recently bought a project 350z. Its a 2004.5 Enthusiast 6-speed. It has a rebuilt title, and needs quite a bit of work. It looks like the motor has been swapped on it. I haven't been able to get to the serial number on the engine, so I have no clue what this could be out of. Looks like the starter used to be on the driver side, as a hole for the starter still remains open. With that being said, what could this be out of? Is there a cover I can buy to cover this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My car has a oil consumption problem. Today as I was taking the intake apart to replace the knock sensor, and knock sensor harness, I found a HUGE amount of oil in the lower intake manifold collector.

From your guys experience, what can be done to remedy this problem? Replace the PCV valve? Install a catch can?

I got to the engine serial number today. Can anybody shed some light on it?

So as I was taking apart my Z today, I encountered a few harnesses that weren't plugged into anything. The first set was connected to the passenger side headlights. What is all suppose to connect to the harness from the passenger side headlights? Also, I had two harness that were unplugged in front of the radiator. What are those two harness suppose to connect to? Lastly, the wires that go to the horn have been cut and some wires are no longer used. Can somebody shed some light on what those wires might be for? (the horn works fine) I am assuming it goes to the AC Dryer as it wasnt connected to anything.

Can anyone help me decipher what kind of transmission I have? Only thing I was on the transmission was this:

The DE has a hole on both sides. I don't know about the HR.

Get a picture of the top side of the engine...

That's what I was thinking. Even without the undertray it wouldn't have that much road grime built up.

It's also missing every cover under the hood.

Car is rough.

Edit: and the strut bar. I didn't even notice that...

I believe RHD cars have the started mounted on the lt side. Either way, it's just a cover that goes there, one of the designs Nissan had to allow the same engine to go in many platforms

That's not an oil consumption issue, that's just where the pcv system puts all that crap when I removed my lower plenum at 90kish miles it looked about the same way, but that's also why I'm looking into getting a catch can, that way I also know how much blow by is coming from my engine

No, it's an issue. If you look at my picture above of the clutch/rear of engine you can see mine is clean and I had about 90k miles on it at that time. I'm up to 114k and it is still clean...

Default Engine Wiring Harness Replacement...

For some reason, my engine wiring harness has been spliced and doesn't seem like the greatest care was taken to repair it. Any ideas why it might have been spliced? The motor was defiantly swapped out on the car, but I don’t see why it would be necessary to splice a bunch of the wires. Also, are the orange and blue plugs factory original? What are those for? Lastly, do you think that I would be better off replacing the wiring harness or any other suggestions on how to repairs the harness properly?

Looks like maybe it was cut to install a remote start or something, then it was removed and they just put in a length of wire to make it stock length again so it wouldn't be too short.

Default Motorized Cubby for Navigation System Alternative

Hey guys, I have a 2004 Z with factory navigation. When I bought it, the motorized cubby lid was missing. I don't want to spend $150-$200 on a new motorized cubby, and was wondering if there are any alternatives out there? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Can somebody please help me identify what these harnesses / plugs are for? Also, what would be the best way to connect the fuel line that's rigged in the last picture?

This is under the steering wheel. This looks like it should plug in next to the VSC button, but there is no button for it. The spot that should have a button for it, is a blank.

Lastly, this looks like it goes to the starter. However, about mid way through the harness, there appears to be a retainer or bracket that is supposed to be attached to something. Can anybody help me out and tell me what its suppose to be attached to? Also, the fuel line is super ghetto rigged. How can I properly attach it?

Thanks for all the help!

i will bite my tongue. what is it you are trying to achieve with the car, track, daily etc? if it were me (key words), i would just buy a new wiring harness but you will have to have a definite answer what they engine is (de or revup)
