Default Running rough

I just bought a 06 Z. Previous owner installed an Injen cold air intake and Borla exhaust. She runs rough unless you really get into it. I'm looking into flashing ECM, dyno and tune. Just looking for a base line to start trouble shooting. Checked for air leaks around the intake. Have exhaust timing codes, high voltage O2 code and crank shafts position sensor code. Any help is greatly appreciated.

IIRC, when I first got my Z, it threw a CEL and I took it back to the dealer. Turns out the previous owner had installed the Injen CAI and didn't put the OEM back in properly. I believe the MAS unit wasn't connected well.

You don't need to flash the ECU. Just check the intake tube and all your connections leading up to your plenum.

Do you smell a lot of exhaust fumes while idling?

Thanks for the advice. It does smell like it's running rich.

Could be an exhaust leak in the Borla, too. I would try to start with looking at all your intake and exhaust mods first to see if you can get that all buttoned up.

Ok, I'll do that. Every mechanic I've talked to said I need the ECU flashed and then have it tuned. Really hoping a don't have to do that.

That sounds like the standard answer mechanics will give when they haven't even tried looking at a car or they don't know the answer.

Getting the Z tuned can cost you hundreds of dollars, more if you don't find the right one. I haven't been following recent stories about ECU flashes, but back in the day owners had to send in their ECU to a company to get it flashed and waited weeks or months for it.

I have just joined the forum today so I haven't had a chance to see much. I did find a local performance shop that said about 1k to do the flash, dyno and tune.

So I cleaned the MAF and throttle body last night. Made sure that all the clamps for the intake were tight when I reinstalled it. The car does run better as far as the bogging down when speeding up. But now the idle is really high. 2k until it warms up and then 1.2k after. Also seems to rev a tiny bit when I engage the clutch. Any ideas where to look?
