Windows roll down on their own and trunk pops open
Hey guys, could really use some help.
I have a 2006 350z, 6spd. I replaced my drivers window motor about a year ago. Over the last couple of months the windows would go down on their own sometimes and I'd have to roll them up. Sometimes they would get to the top and touch, only to fall down. Also during this time my trunk would pop open if I didn't have the car locked or when I put my key in the door. The FOB has never worked in the four years I've had it but I did try and reprogram myself.
Anyway the other day the windows went down and wouldn't come back up. It was like the switches were dead. I tried replacing fuses and disconcerting battery. I took to the dealer and got a new BCM.
The dealer says it isn't the BCM but bad wiring from something aftermarket? I have noticed my aftermarket head unit flickering and being hard to read...any thoughts?

Unplug the battery, pull out the HU and see if the problem goes away. If it does, check all the voltages and resistance readings on the audio connections. Make sure your grounds all check out as well.
It'd also help if you mentioned if the car came with the factory BOSE system or the good one.
Did the person who installed the HU go cheap and just use crimp connections or did they spend the time to solder the wires solder and use harness adapters to the factory wiring?
As for the window, it's fairly straightforward to test the switch with a multi meter. I'm guessing that you got stuck with the unfortunate reality that the window motors on the Z are garbage, but check it before you go out and buy another one. Did you buy a factory unit or an aftermarket one with a lifetime warranty? Check the sticky on the Maintenance & Repair forum re: window motor issues.
