Default locks

I have a 04 350z and I have a key fob that will make the trunk pop at minimum. however it will not lock or unlock the car same goes for the physical switches. It doesn't seem to be a fuse. Any suggestions on where to move from there? Thank you.

Pull the fob apart and clean the carbon contact points with a little Deoxit and a Q-Tip. There are a ton of videos on Youtube showing how to do this.

Hang on a sec. I didn't see that. If the fob and the physical switches aren't working on the door locks, then it could be problems with the wiring or the actuators. Are you saying that neither of the doors will lock or unlock using the switches or the fob and that only the trunk switch is working?

Is there an aftermarket security system on your car? Which fuses did you check?

If the power lock switch isn't working, then it's probably not the fob. You're not getting a signal to the door lock actuators or the actuators are bad. For them both to go bad at the same time seems really strange though unless it's a BCM issue.

You can remove the switch assemblies and do a simple continuity/resistance test on them using a multi meter or you can disconnect the switches and check the door lock actuators using a 12V source to see if they're working.

Also, check the wiring between the switch and the actuator for any shorts to ground as well.

So is it correct to assume you don't have an aftermarket security system or heavy gauge speaker wire going through the door pass-through?
