I am kind of new to this board and I was just wondering if anyone is having the same problems I am having.

1. Clicking noise when I start accelerating (coming from the right rear).
2. Grinding when going into second gear.
3. A strange vibration when coasting in second or third gear.

The other question I have is did anyone ever take their car to Evanston Nissan in Evanston, Il, and how it was to deal with them? Also is it true that Nissan doesn't give loaners if the car is in for more than 24hrs?

I have all three.

The first is apparently your rear axle splines.. this is a quote from another member:

"I think I might know. If its coming from the rear axle area your axle splines aredry and need to be removed, clean , relubed and retorqued. Nissan Techline should know about this. Mine started with the rear passenger side and themn the rear drivers side. It made lkie a creaking kind of sound when on first when i take off from a stop. Check it out I heard some have there axles replaced Good Luck"

The second.. its just tranny issues. So many members have had their transmissions replaced. I have had mine replaced, for my 3rd gear.. and now my 2nd and 3rd gear are still bad! I need to get my car back to the dealer soon again...

The last issue is just normal from what i hear. Our transmission is designed a certain way that makes is stronger from what I hear, but doesn't absorb engine vibrations as much and thats why we get such strong vibrations, especially while engine braking in 3rd..

I have the same noise in the rear an it can be heard when rolling at about 5-10 mph an then tapping the acceletator and then it will give a pinging noise about 4 or 5 times. Static is that how it souded on your z? thanx

 

Hmm.. I didn't hear a pinging noise per say.. its more of a dull tap.. especially evident when u start moving the car at a slow speed. But either way, if its coming from the rear and u can hear it outside the car, chances are its the same issue.. just go to your dealer and have them take a look at it.
