Angry Window Motors!

Well, no more than an hour ago my passenger side window motor failed. With the window down. F#CK.

The thing that is really funny to me is that I had the exact same problem in my previous 350Z -- both window motors broke within a month of each other leaving me stranded and carless for a week either time. What makes it even worse is that I live in the city and park on the street -- so I have to bag off my windows and hide it in a friend's back yard, then beg for rides to work and school so that bums don't break into my car at night!

I don't really think I can convery how furious I am about this. I have already kicked that car HARD today. Right after it happened I wound up and let the passenger side door have it.

For a second there, I was really hoping that my second Z would be a different story, and that Nissan wasn't making cars out of 100% cheap plastic ****.

I called my good friend at the Nissan dealer and told him about it, and asked if he could order new motors on Monday. He said he'd order one and it would be in on Tuesday -- I told him to make it two, because we both know that the piece of **** in the driver's side door probably won't last another week either...

Sorry to hear about it, but you didn't really kicked your passenger side door did you? that would void the motor warranty

My window was sticking every now and then and I would have to give it a love tap to make it work again. Took it to the dealership and they diagnosed the window motor was sticking, so it needed to be replaced.
The part was something like: $280.
Covered under warranty
I hope the other one doesn't brake, but at least they had the part in stock, here in Houston.

Sadly I think this is a defect the manufacturer has not been able to correct. I have had the drivers side changed and I am waiting for the arrival of the passenger side motor to be installed under warranty. There is another member of the club that I know has had both changed already. And one more had one changed.

just open your door and try to roll it up, if that doesnt work use a pencil to prop the window glass outward while you break it free with the button, ive had this happen so many times lately im a pro

Anyone notice a problem with the auto window drop down? Does your driver side not drop down as far as the passanger? Mine barely clears it

I am at 32000 and mine are still fine. Of course, I have had my car for a little over a year, maybe that is what is different.

its not my motor its the stupid feature that makes it go down when you open the door. it does that but gets jammed so im guessing my window is off track somehow when i take it in next i am pushing for a replacement of the entire assy as this is the 2nd time this has happened.

I am at 32k miles, motors are fine, but the driver side doesn't go down 1" when you open the door. It goes about 1/4" and stop, dealer doesn't know what to do...

Who's the dealer? I goto Sterling McCall Nissan. They seem to be up to date on most stuff. I replaced my window when my car was broken into. Now it only lowers maybe a 1/4" (not like before or the passenger side). The window guy said it just needs to be reprogramed. I've yet to take it to the dealership for that.

Sterling McCall... I had bad experience with them... when they "tried" to fix my windows grease problem, the window didn't even align right. it was shifted too much to the front... I had to fix it myself my remove the covering, and the inside metal panel, and unbolt the three bolts that holds the glass and holder, and shift it back to align it right.

Both motors have broken on my Nissan. They have been replaced but then what.

We should take action while we can and call Nissan directly. They must be responsible for not giving high quality parts and for every replacement made, the warranty for that part must be reset.

can you please elaborate on this window grease problem you had?

my windows roll up and have grease streaks on them, both sides. I took it ot the dealer and they said they fixed it but it STILL streaks grease a bit. I want to get this fixed before i tint the windows...

Did the window realignment fix the windows grease issue?

and my windows only do a 1/4in or so move when i open the doors.

Well i am new to this forum but wanted to say my drivers side just decided not to go up. So now I have a loner from the dealership until I can get my car in for repair ( Assuming they can find a motor somewhere in the Us). But it wouldn't be that bad if we weren't having summer thundershowers everyday for the next week and a half.
