It is not difficult at all. You will need a large breaker bar to remove the bolts holding the plates to the strut towers and a large torque wrench to make sure the bolts are properly tightened when you re-instal the bar.

Now for the fun part. The bar is adjusted to a specific length and before you take it off, you need to mark or measure the length so that you can put it back on correctly. I would also recommend checking the front alignment afterward just to cya.

I removed the engine cover without removing the strutbar--just several bolts; quite simple. I wouldn't remove the strutbar unless I absolutely had to--like changing to a new intake plenum.

It's a beautiful engine and I actually prefer the engine without the plastic cover.

It looks like I misunderstood your real question. If all you want to remove is the plastic cover, then don't even touch the strut tower brace. You can get to the back two bolts very easily with a closed end wrench. I thought you were asking how to take the top cover off of the intake manifold. To do that, you need to remove the brace. It looks like there is enough room to work it out from under the brace, but trust me, there's not.
