Default Pulley/Belt squealing problem w/Vortech

When I installed the Vortech kit a few weeks ago I had a very slight belt squealing problem that went away after a minute or two. Since it went away and it wasn't that annoying, I decided that I would fix it later. Well over the next few weeks the squealing got a little worse as the belt stretched until I decided that I needed to fix it. Last Saturday I adjusted the belt tension a little and then started the car to see if the noise went away. It didn't go away completely so I thought I just needed to adjust the tension a little more. When I was under the car I noticed by accident that the alternator pulley was VERY hot. I assumed that this was the point where the belt was slipping and thus creating alot of heat. I adjusted the belt even more and the pulley was no longer getting hot but the squealing was still there. The more that I listen to the noise I am starting to think that it is no longer a belt issue but rather either a noisy pulley or bearing. Then it occurred to me..Is it possible that the heat buildup in the alternator pulley over time transferred to the alternator shaft bearings and cooked them? Thoughts?
