Default New Alignment Print-outs

well, this is my second alignment. the first was done by a nissan dealer under the original 12 mo. warranty. the tire wear i had before that alignment came back, so i decided to take it to a private place to have it done. attached is a scan of my before and after settings. main thing to note in the before is that red = bad.

good thing is that he was able to put everything right in the middle afterwards.

anyone in the triangle area in NC check him out. MM Autowerks. good guy, good work.

i would just like to add that the latest tsb says that ther should be a TOTAL toe in prefered setting of 2mm or .08 in. or 2*(depending on how the machine reads the measurement). it appears you have a total of .07* toe in. is this adjustment due to the fact that they could not add any more total toe in? your under the lowest setting of 0* wich is good but nominal is 1* & preferred as mentioned is 2*.....just curious how you feel about these settings? im having trouble understanding this since the tsb only states the total toe adjustment, not the actual setting per side. i would guess that if .2* is perferred than you would need at least .1* toe in on each side would be needed to get this. am i correct? mabey im missing somthing here or mabey this is just the max setting you could get with your adjustability!....just to note, it appears nissan wasnt using the latest tsb when settin toe the 1st time since there was so much toe out on your initial specs.........im just trying to get enlightened, i would like to understand the adjustments a bit better.
thankyou,
-justin

lastly, if any alignment techs are going to jump in here i would also like to add that i think its weird that the front toe was changed in order to eliminate tire feathering yet the rears werent touched on the tsb, wouldnt yoe out cause rear tire feathering as did the fronts? so would it be wise to have the rears set as cose to the specs listed on the tsb chart as well? any info on this subject would be appreciated.
thanx again,
-justin

ok...let me try to answer this...

the specs i have listed for total toe are...

0.0mm-2.0mm or 0.00*-0.16* with the nominals right in the middle of those at 1.0mm and 0.08*. my tech was doing his best to hit all the readings as close to nominal as he could. right now i am at 0.9mm or 0.07*, pretty close if you ask me, with it split side to side.

i agree the initial alignment data is horrible. no wonder i had such bad inner edge tire wear in the front. hell, it was also starting to make the car dance around, especially on uneven pavement.

all that is fixed now. the car drives, brakes, and steers right where i want it to. i just spent the weekend at VIR flogging the crap out of it, and it did everything i asked it to.

as far as the rears...the way i understand it is like this: the fronts will show wear on the inside edge with a toe-out condition. (this is what i used to have, which has now been fixed) the rears work the opposite way, therefore showing inside edge wear under a toe-in condition (which is why they are now set in a slight toe-out condition).

hope that makes some sense.

btw...the specs my tech used are the ones provided to him by hunter (the alingment equip. manufacturer). they happen to be the same as the ones nissan lists in the service manual. all the tsb seemed to add was an emphasis that the dealerships pay attention to the toe and get it right...which they obviously didn't care about and didn't do with me the first time.
