Default Breaking it in

Recently I just purchased a silverstone enthusiast Z. I am religiously following the break in schedule. One of the points of the break in schedule is not to exceed 4000 rpm.

My question: Is this requirement more of a basic guidline? Obviously I would not know how it was driven prior to me taking ownership. I would speculate that 4000 rpm point would have been matched or exceeded during test drives or lot boys having fun when swapping with another dealer in transit. I bought the car with 125 miles on it. I also accidently reached 4000 rpm trying to avoid a gravel truck that pulled out in front of me on the freeway.

For someone who really understands the mechanics of a high-tech engine, if I continue to follow the break in schedule, about another 1100 miles to go-will the break in be alright?

This is the nicest car that I've ever owned and I want to treat it right.

Thanks for your feedback...The enthusiast

Don't worry about it. Just try to be gentle and vary your rpms throughout your break-in. The engine is durable so a couple 4000 rpm runs won't do jack to it.
