Radiator problem?? Help please
Hey I just recently replaced my radiator with a Koyo one after my car started overheating for seemingly no apparent reason one night after driving only 10 miles. I have the GReddy TT and have had no issues with overheating before and from what my limited car knowledge tells me they have nothing to do with this anyway. Now that i've replaced the radiator assuming that was the problem I'm still having issues. Everything was tightened and double checked on the install yet my temp monitor in the car shows the needle rising higher than normal when the car is running. It will almost peak then after I kind of idle and let the car roll slowly go down to what I would say is 3/4's of the measurement gauge. this worries me and I don't know what it could be. I have Samco hoses on order for a cosmetic reason but I really doubt this has anything to do with my hoses. I still feel it was the radiator but do I have an issue now with the ecu not being able to make out what the heck is going on since i have an increased cooling capacity with this larger radiator along with the additional airflow provided already by the TT kit. I'm at a loss here and I want to be able to drive my car with a sense of security. Any help or suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.
Little update. Seems the air condition is not cooling so did you maybe not hook up something 100%? I'm getting the service manual tommorrow but until then any hints would be great.
Yeah we kind of thought about that but why would the ac no longer work because of this. Does the bad readings from the thermostat influence the ac in some way as if it doesnt know that its not blowing out cold air? Because the car itself isnt acting as if its overheating yet you start to get worried when you see the needle all the way up and the ac not working.
No, but the A/C will not work if the fans are not coming on. Check the plugin to the fans and any wiring that could have gotten severed when the work was done on your car.
Also make sure you bleed all the air from the cooling system. That will make it overheat also.
Do a search on overheating or cooling system bleeding. I am sure there is enough info on these items.
Either of these problems can keep the A/C from working. If the car overheats, the ECU keeps the A/C from engaging to keep the engine load down so it doesn't add to an existing problem. Also if the fans do not come on it can keep the A/C from engaging too.
