Car starts...but then slowly dies
Let me tell you guys how it happened first.
I was at a complete stop waiting to make a right on to a busy street, so I proceeded to go but had to accelerate faster than usual. I take the car in first gear to about 5k rpm's and shift into second gear. The car then slowly dies...the rpm's just continue to drop until its at 0. I try to start it again, and it starts but then dies again. Even if I try to hold the hrottle down, it will just die. I pull into the gas station and have one of my friends look at it. We first checked the air filter and tube seeing if anything came loose. Nothing was wrong there. One of my friends then tells me to spray I think it was carb cleaner into the throttle body and the car stayed running as long as I was spraying it in. It has to be a fuel problem i'm guessing. Could it be the fuse though if the car starts? Let me know if you guys have any ideas...my gut instinct says its the fuel pump. Thanks

I had a similar sounding problem. Car would go into "Fail-Safe" mode. Cant rev above 2500rpm. Turn off wait a few moments then restart. Does the Check Eng light come on? Long story short is...after replacing the entire computer, throttle body and a couple of wiring harnesses, on Nissan's last shot before Lemon Law Arb. The "specialist" found a loose, or disconnected Oxygen Sensor wire. Maybe? Good luck, Dave
I wonder if the VIN# on your car is listed in the Crank Angle Position Sensor recall. Go to http://www.infinitihelp.com for recall information. Just a guess out of the blue.
