'Clunk' over curbs
When pulling into driveways with a steep slope, I hear a distinct clunk from the front of the car. I can also occasionally hear it when driving on very rough roads. In addition, my plenum is rubbing against my strut tower brace. My first thought was motor mounts but the motor and trnasmission mounts appear to be fine. Any thoughts as to what the root cause of the prblem might be?
It actually turned out to be a loose engine mount. The dealer is attempting to charge $118 for the pleasure of tightening it. They're calling it an 'adjustment' but I can't figure out what they were adjusting. Did Ford recall the Focus to adjust the tightness of the lower control arm bolt? Do you adjust the bolts if a shock comes loose? Oh well, bitter rant over. I will be avoiding Extreme Nissan in Bloomington, IL from now on. Are there any good central IL dealers?
