Clutch Pedal Will Not Return...new Problem!!!
I haven't seen anyone with this exact problem! I have read all the threads that are related but mine must be different. I just installed new jwt clutch/flywheel combo. After we finished the clutch would spring down to the floor and stay then it would spring back up after the halfway point. I now have installed a new slave cylinder, a new SS line, and bled the system about 10 times. It just springs up after the halfway point when I pull it up by hand and doesn't spring down like before...halfway better than before Before the new slave and SS line was installed we tested out the new flywheel/clutch combo and it engaged fine when the pedal was pulled up by hand...no strange noises, just smooth engagement thru the first 3 gears! My friend and I have worked on several different vehicles and never seen this problem. Please help...my only guess is it might be the master cylinder but it's an 03 with only 48k miles!!!

Does anyone have a clue what it could be? Has anyone heard of the clutch master cylinder going out? It just doesn't seem to have any pressure or else it would be returning on it's own. I looked around the lines and don't see any leaks and the fluid level in the reservior is still the same. Any ideas!

I ordered a master cylinder and will keep you updated on weather or not this solves the problem...it should because it's the only thing left in the system! This better be it!!!

I hang out at a mechanic's shop a lot becuase he is a good friend of mine and this Ford truck had the same problem. He replaced the master cylinder for the guy and it was fixed....however 2 weeks later the truck somehow burned up another master cylinder so if this is the problem hope it's not the same for you.

Bleed it more...bleed it, then bleed it, then bleed it again. Don't stop until it feels right and make sure you're using your foot not your hand. Mine took forever to bleed correctly.

The pressure plate that I installed is a used one from a member on the forums and looks a little rough. Has anyone ever heard of a bad pressure plate not allowing the clutch pedal to come back up?

I already replaced the slave and master cylinders. I also found the clutch "fork" pivot ball which was still fine. I had a chromoly one that I had gotten earlier and went ahead and replaced it while I had the tranny pulled. I have pulled the pressure plate (clutch cover) off, which was from one of the users here on the forums and I have replaced with my stock plate. I honestly believe that it is the cause of all the problems. I wouldn't be surprised if it was bad because the jwt flywheel that I got from this person, had over half of the holes to mount the pressure plate to the flywheel itself, were completely stripped out. If I could only remember the member's name!!!
I'll keep ya updated after I re-install the tranny and hopefully this will fix everything!!!

I have had it with this stupid clutch problem!!! If it were a cable controlled clutch, then at least I could narrow down the problem, but either way everything that could be replaced except for the oem pressure plate has been replaced. I've replaced the flywheel, the clutch disc, the throwout bearing, pivot ball, master cylinder, slave cylinder, and put in a SS clutch line. Please tell me if there are any ideas out there because if not, it's going to a shop as much as I hate to after taking it out and putting it back in 2 times with the exact same results...none!!! Neither I nore anyone else that I have spoken to that works with cars has ever seen this problem! It drives me crazy when I can't fix something!
