Nice choice. At least you didn't get a Boxster.

Thanks Guys!

I bought it used with 7800 miles. I would have never ordered the Ceramic Carbon brakes on a new car, the option (PCCB) is over $8k.

I got if for a real good price. Put it this way, Trading the 4 year old G in on it was like starting over again with a new G.

Have fun changing those rotors.

I just priced out the Cayman I would buy on Porsche's website. It came out to over $90K. I guess I'll be waiting a few years to get that...

Sounds a lot more reasonable than 90K. I think used is the way to go.

About Carbon Ceramic Brakes:

Combining low weight with exceptional strength and hardness – Carbon-Ceramic is a ceramic composite material, composed of carbon fiber within a silicon carbide matrix, so-called carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide.

Carbon-Ceramic brake discs offer substantial improvements over the dynamics of sports and luxury cars in several fundamental areas. This new composite technology sets a new benchmark in decisive user benefit aspects, such as safety and durability.

Carbon-Ceramic brake performance is revolutionary. The ceramic brake disc achieves not only very high, but also consistent frictional coefficients, maintaining them independent from temperature and weather conditions.

Carbon-Ceramic brake discs offer a tremendous weight advantage (about 65%) over traditional grey-cast iron components. This reduces the weight of the suspension and means a reduction in unsprung masses with a further improvement of shock absorber response and behavior.

Carbon-Ceramic brake discs are designed to last the entire lifetime of a car. Thanks to the non-iron based surface, corrosion is totally avoided, increasing the life span of the brake disc

for a decently equipped used one, they run $50-55k

example:

2006 Porsche Cayman S [Black] - $53,900 (3k mi, 6spd, black leather)

2006 Porsche Cayman S [Black] - $49,900 (21k mi, 6spd, black leather)

He should never have to change them. From what I've read they rarely wear out.
