I’d like to start this thread by saying that I have endured a lot over the last two years in regards to aftermarket parts for my ‘Z.’ Part of the aura surrounding the JDM craze is not only the appeal of the parts aesthetically, performance-wise, or even their quality, but it’s also the rarity and difficulty in procuring them that makes them so captivating and contributes to the “have-to-have” mentality. I know this too well…
Just to describe one of the many headaches that has come with modding my car... I placed my first body kit order for this car one week before I even had the car in my possession (I drove it off the lot in June of 2005). Now, more than two years have elapsed and I am finally content. I have received the “run-around” from Do-Luck USA after waiting a year and a half for that kit. I dealt with three different vendors in attempts to get it and one private party, none of which worked out (I don’t blame the vendors for those misfortunes. After speaking with a representative from Do-Luck USA and having him lie to me directly, I realized they were on the downward slide…) I have also had two other orders through vendors and one eBay sale for JDM body kits not work out.
My intentions in relaying this information is to stress how impressed I have been with Andy from Performance Nissan of Duarte. I was extremely annoyed with trying to find all the “right” JDM parts for my car when I figured I’d give it one last shot with a message to Andy, in an attempt to see if he could help me out. He was not only able to get me what I was looking for, but he did it within the timeframe he told me he would. He didn’t say, “Yeah. I can definitely get it! You’ll have it in two weeks,” and then six weeks later leave me wondering where the part was and if I’d ever get a response from him again. The parts actually arrived before he said they would. Not only that, but even without placing orders or spending a ton of money, he took the time to answer all my questions as thoroughly and accurately as possible. Above all, the thing that impresses me the most about my experience(s) with Performance Nissan is the fact that I am located on the other side of the country and Andy treats me like a customer that, at any moment, could come walking through his door. That may not seem like much, especially in the growing era of internet sales, but it does to a customer who is spending a lot of money and looking for some peace-of-mind. Occasionally I will receive a PM from Andy making an inquiry as to how the car is coming along or what progress is being made. To me, that displays a sincere, genuine interest in a common passion, while also illustrating that Andy is not simply here on Performance Nissan’s behalf to turn a profit. Isn’t that precisely how forums of this nature (and their vendors) are supposed to be? I certainly do not feel like "another number" when I deal with Andy.
I have ordered a bunch of the parts that are featured on my car from Andy and he has certainly taken good care of me. This car is by no means “complete,” in any sense of the word (I have some other plans in the works
), but I can honestly say that Performance Nissan has a future customer because of the customer service I receive from Andy. You deserve a lot of credit for helping me make my ‘Z’ what it is, Andy! Thank you…
I was able to get out today and snap a bunch of pictures of the car. I am not, by any means, a good photographer
. I apologize for that... Today made me wish I was, however, because I liked a few of the locations.
I am welcome to all opinions and criticism. I don’t expect everyone to love my ‘Z.’ It’s perfectly fine by me if you don’t. I realize everyone has different opinions. All I ask is that if you, perhaps, do not like something on my car or your taste differs from my own, please let me know why or offer a suggestion (or at least rip me and my efforts with a little class, if at all possble…
).

Very nice looking car man. I like the attention to detail like the fiberglass work on the rear compartent w/ the Failady Z badge.
As for Andy, I couldn't agree more. Andy has not only been able to get me hard parts to obtain, within reasonable time, but also the customer service that I would expect from spending quite a bit of money on the Z. Andy has also given me advice and more insight into the industry and that says a lot about his love for the import scene.
Again, great looking car man.

Thanks for the compliments, guys!
I would have been extremely surprised if I was the only one who felt this way about Andy's level of professionalism. I have a feeling a lot of guys share our sentiments not only about Andy's customer service skills, but his passion and dedication to the industry, as well. As I said above, Performance Nissan has certainly earned a future customer based solely on Andy's efforts. Let's face it, a lot of vendors can get the parts, but few of them "go the extra mile" and, as far as I'm concerned, Andy does...
Thanks very much. I wanted something different. I knew nobody had these. I actually ordered them before they were available (from what I understand, they didn't even have a PART# at the time of placing the order). They are the Recaro Speed 'S' seat. I had them custom made, meaning I had to supply the thread I wanted for the stitch (which was a PITA tracking down
) and I chose to go with the alcantara inserts and leather bolsters. I have to say that my favorite part of the seat, however, is the low lateral side bolsters. They make entry and exit easy. In that sense, they are much like the Bride XAXII seat...
Thank you! It's not done yet, though...

Yes, your novel was quite long, so I gave up after the first paragraph.
Car looks veeeery nice. I'm just not personally a fan of the center console, but that's just me. I like the Fairlady Z emblem there.
