I couldn't have gotten a much better deal on this exact lens. Maybe one similar, like the Sigma. But I like to stick with Canon lenses. Nothing against off brands - my friend has a Tammy and it's fantastic. I've read reviews comparing Canon's and Sigma's super wide angle lens, but I found the Canon to outweigh the Sigma. Although the differences weren't huge, I don't mind paying the extra buck for the Canon.
