to call them 'american' car companies is a joke. american is just branding. soon japan's us subsidiaries will be making more cars in the US than GM or Ford.

american cars just doesn't have a good image in terms of dependability.
there are awesome american cars that are out, in terms of power and styling, such as, gt500 mudstain, charger, challenger and camaro on the horizon and few others.. i like the looks, but never been tempted to buy. I don't have brand loyalty.. I'll buy whatever i think is awesome. If toyota came up with a high powered sports car, I prolly dump nissan.

I thought that was a pretty good read, it's nice to see a celebrity that actually seems to be formulating some thoughts. I would also like to think that if one of the major american car manufacturers came up with a car tat appealed to me as much as the Z does that I would give it a try. But I've rented some of America's finest sedans for work and I can tell you that I would almost rather push my nissan than drive any of them.

Jay Leno is my hero. I am someone who thinks American cars are garbage but I like his opinions on the subject of making them appeal more so that Americans will buy them.

Mercury/Ford is proving they CAN do it. Their reliability data on CR has sky-
rocketed! GM, Chrysler...hmmm, not good, not good.

Those car's you listed are EXACTLY their problem! They are only targeting people who like old muscle cars, dinosaur tech. They are building cars for 40 year olds and up! If thats not a great way to ruin your business I don't know what is. It's like they ignore the younger gen who is into technological/efficient/well designed cars. Their only offerings for the younger guys are cobalts and srt-4s

Leno is GM-employed, I'm pretty sure of this. He'll end up getting the new-generation Camaros and maybe the new Challenger, he is definitely getting the new Z06 whenever it comes out. Some of you might of seen this, a few years ago I saw pictures of Leno's garage, I believe it was in an airplane hanger, or built like it. There was a silver 350z sitting with all his exotics and hot rods inside the building.
