Nice try man. And no one is hating. I like what your intentions where but it just doesn't look good. Props to you though on trying something different and being able to take constructive criticism. 
Okay here's what I'd do to help the contrast or lack of between your lips and tires.
The part where the lip flares out towards the tires, have that the same color as your spokes. I think that would look pretty good. I can PS it if u need a visual.

looks like the tire is super chubby..
you can give it depth, like Nitrouz said, by adding color on the side of the spokes (ala GT-F) or adding a TA Ring, so you can visually separate the tire from the wheel... imo. i'd just paint the whole wheel black-

Frankly I like them the way they are.. Hence the reason they are like that. If I didn't like it I would change it. Some of you like wings, eyelids, gaudy body kits, ect.... That is your choice and YOUR car.. I have to look at MY car everyday, so I'm not gonna make it look good according to how you guys want it to look. I make it look good according to me. Hate how it looks? Cool. Love how it looks? Cool. I could care less. If I want to glue a V-tech sticker on my Headlight, guess what? that's what i'm gonna do.
