Default built a rig. test shots inside.

theres quite a bit of snow in chicago right now so the Z is stuck in the garage, but i just built a new rig for my car/camera and had to test it out.

Unedited

Edited- still needs some work but I did this in a couple min while eating

Another

Edited- same as above

Not the best shot but kinda shows what it looks like on the car. Can't wait to play with it more once the weather breaks!

Wow i love your rig as much as i love your car and rims lol . So does the whole thing actually work, u set the exposure on the camera for 2 seconds or so then move the car couple inches and get this as a result?

just a quick explanation would be nice, if you dont mind . Again love the pictures and your car, and now the rig :P

thanks guys. i'll explain from the very basics so for those of you who know this already you don't have to read much farther. basically the rig holds the camera in place focused on the car. they move together while everything moves around it. for these shots the car is off, in neutral. i set the self timer on the camera (which is ten seconds) run to my position behind the car and begin to push/pull These shots were taken at ISO 100, F11 and shutter of 5 seconds. The slow 5 second shutter causes all the blur of everything moving... background, wheels, ect. so in a nutshell thats basically everything. i thinki hit a max MPH of like .5 on these lol. I'd just back it up to that brown box by the work bench and then push it forward 5-7 feet or so. looks like im flying though

kiriller- thanks for the compliments man! appreciate it!

Very cool. I have been thinking of something like this but on a slightly smaller scale. I use a sticky pod for a lot of my driving shots, but I wanted to get more of the car in the shots so I was going to build an extension rod. I did not realized a shot like this could be captured with the car moving so little or slow. I assumed I was going to have to be at least 20mph or so to get a shot like that.

So there is hope for my shot after all.

A shot with the sticky pod. It really pays off to use it with two cars to get the better driving shots.

i ran into the same problem you did with the sticky pod. i have one as well. there is a huge difference between a RIG shot and a TRACKING shot (shooting from a moving car along side another) Its 2 different styles of shots and both are awesome. You can get a little better effects with the rig shot and more blur of the background and such.
