Yeah lol im going to be grabbing some wheels and powder coating candy apple red for summer, just have to find a set I like.
I had a 10' Mazda 3s Hatch but e brake cable snapped and rolled into the river and got totaled about a week before I bought my Z. Now I have a $500 03 legacy GT for when it's just too risky to take the Z out but soo far I don't think that'll happen. The subaru leaks oil bad soo it's really just a last resort. Was looking into maybe getting an evo but I haven't had much time to go check any out.

That happened to me once with a lifted Wrangler I had. Came out one morning to go to work and found it resting full weight against my neighbors car. Still, not as bad as what happened to you.. Subaru's are pretty capable vehicles. The Legacy will definitely come in handy in the snow.. I was looking at STi's before I decided on the Z. To me, the Z is just a better looking vehicle. I've never liked 'boxy' cars(domestic, or import).

Nah I wasn't in the mazda, I woke up and looked outside to see the hatch sticking out of the water. Frame had a ripple effect through it and 26 holes in the floor. It took out two pecked pole trees and a stump, as well as my daughters swing set on the way ���� My house is on river front property, not what I was expecting to see though.
Also Craig I am also winter driving my z in New York. We just got 6 inches last night, I haven't had any slip issues or anything to make me feel uncomfortable driving it. I. Really happy with these cooper snows. Makes for fun parking lot slides. The z stays pretty planted to the ground unless I want it to slide.

Mine used to be my year-round car as well. Many people think they are terrible but the proper tire goes a very long way. Pirelli Winter Sottozero were always my tire of choice.
But as of 2 years ago I picked up a civic and its really nice not to have to worry about other drivers hitting my z anymore
2 months after i bought the vette, it decided to snow while i was at work. it was only a couple inches, but as torque-y as the car is, as light as the rear end is... was interesting drive home, almost came back to the office to sleep here.
this year if it snows, i will take the girls AWD mercedes. should handle the snow better

That's honestly my biggest fear. Our first snowfall we got maybe 1.5 inches and just in my area alone there were 4-5 cars in ditches. The other concern is the salt, ive been doing full touchless car washes about every three days. Roughly about $60 a week so far lol. Thankfully I got it under coated and have an appointment Dec 28th to have some minor paint corrections and ceramic coating done. That should eliminate the salt issue for awhile.
I was honestly sceptic of driving it throughout the winter based off people's responses on here but after driving through 6 inches with 0 problems I've come to the conclusion that the nay sayers either had shyt tires or just sucked at driving/ not much harsh winter experience. Thankfully growing up in the north eastern states I'm accustomed to 45° weather one day and 6° blizzards th next. All in all, z33 make a good winter car provided you have it properly equipped with a good driver and tires.

Yeahh, I drove it into work today. My mother-in-law is using the Jeep right now because she's in the process of getting a new car, so I didn't have that as an option.. I got about half the snow you got. 4'' last weekend and 1-2'' this morning. Wasn't too bad. Once I got out of my neighborhood and onto the main roads it was pretty clear. PennDot was on it for once.. You?

Snow is like mother nature's way of fkn you out of driving your nice car for 4 months out of the year and causing your ********* to retract back into your stomach from the frigid weather.

I'd say it's not so much the lives lost (not trivializing said losses!) as much as the destruction of property.

...and while its a sad state of affairs, at least the people all got out. (My daughter was evac'd but safe, thankfully!)
But ya, here's the thing..... at least snow can be anticipated. Proper prep of the homestead, the cars, and what not. It's an annual ritual and occurs REGULARLY in the same places every year.
Fire? Not so much. Early October saw the destruction of the Wine Region here in NorCal. ~8,500+ structures destroyed, 43 lives lost. Current fires in SoCal are at about 500 houses destroyed, "fortunately", "only" 1 life lost.
But the thing about it is it's hard to predict when and where. The SoCal fires are also fueled by inordinate amount of Santa Ana winds so it can go anywhere.
So, if one were to choose.... I choose snow. I just don't like driving in it. Even in our AWD vehicle. But I do.... to appease my wife and family's affinity for snow sports.
