Default ejsex's PPW '03 350z progress thread

well I haven't posted since I got the car in may so i figured I'd take the time to update you all on my progress thus far. being in college has slowed this process down but really there is no rush. my next goals are a stillen roof spoiler, a staggered set of wheels (undecided at the moment), and some small other things. i/h/e can wait, those things aren't really of any importance to me... on with the pictures!

when I got it:

this is after i installed my 06 tails, short antenna, eye lids, and Stance GR+ true type coilovers. by far the best set i've ever owned, rides just as well as stock if not better even at a decently low ride height...

shortly after, i finally got her into the body shop where the front bumper was filled and repainted (screw holes left behind by ghetto license plate holder...) and the ings+1 replica lip was paint matched and installed...

and i have since lowered it maybe 1/4" more after everything settled just to get it perfectly even on all four corners... oh, and the christmas ball...

(thats my buddy Zak)

Pearl White BMW 7 Series wheels
F 19x9 215/35/19 +5
R 19x10 235/35/19 +5
19mm adaptec 5x114 to 5x120 adapters
lowered another 1/2"

A set of wheels should be more important than the roof spoiler on your list. Looks clean though. Since you have 06 tails, you should try to get 06 headlights as well.

well a set of wheels is obv most important but that's a really big purchase so I know I'll have to wait a while for them whereas a couple $100 on a spoiler really isn't breaking the bank so to speak. and I like the 03 headlights a lot for now but will probably get the 06s somewhere down the line

Save the money you would use on the spoiler and set it aside for the wheels. If you keep saying certain mods won't break the bank it'll stack up. And before you know it you will have spent at least a grand on your car without any nice wheels. To be honest I would have not bought the lip first and saved up for wheels. But regardless I love the ing's lip.

why put a front lip on the car, and lower it?

i get the latter, but you've stuck cash in the first thing that's
gonna break (no matter what).

find some rpf-1's or gtc-01's while they're still under $2k a set
w/ tires - cause the yen ain't goin any where.

I may ask my girl for the spoiler for Xmas. the lip is a replica and it's polyurathane so it's not going to just break, especially if you know how to drive low... and why wouldn't I lower it AND get a lip? the car looks off balance without a lip and for a factory vehicle it does sit lower than most cars but not nearly low enough for me to achieve the look I want.

as for wheels first, I don't like the look or see the point in getting wheels for a car when it's still factory height. factory height=factory wheels. this is my 11th car, I used to be all over hondatech but I'm done with that scene. I was saving for an s2000 but the Z suited me better and I couldn't be happier with it. my point is, I've always done suspension and lip first, wheels afterwards to complete the look, not to mention, winter is coming so I wouldn't want to get a set of new wheels now and practically use them as winter wheels. there's really no point of getting rid of the stock wheels until February passes

screen name did look familiar!

knew had to be another HT guy coming to my350z.

car looks good. I dig the ride height...i was once that low...but couldn't stand hearing my exhaust scrape. just save up...buy wheels and you're set.

i dig the look...and the front lip. thats the only thing i want for my car and i need something cheap and replaceable. lol

haha I think I remember seeing your name too... thanks though, my exhaust doesn't scrape but it's just stock and yeah wheels will "complete" the car for the most part but like I said no rush, when winters over and I have the cash to spare ill pick up a set!

if you like my look just buy the MSA Suzuka lip (ings+1 rep) for like $250 on 350zsource and have it painted for like 100 bucks... it's super durable

just try to be logical. i've been through about 5 bumpers (stock and aftermarket, authentic and grey market) and 3 lips. wheels i often make a few bucks at resale or trade depending on the deal. photos are nice and you clearly care about the car. lose the mudguards.

I've only lost one lip my entire 5 years of driving "slammed" and it was due to driving through a 6" deep puddle at 30mph, idk how you've managed to go through so many... I'm assuming you're being careful so the area where you live must be terrible or something... I removed the rear mud guards but I like the front ones. as for dkmesa, obviously you'll see changes, without change there is no progress...

try the corolla rubber gasket on the lip. you'll like the fit even more.
