I feel like plasti-dip wouldnt have the density to cover a black tire in one coat and since it takes forever for me to do one coat I don't know if I want to do multiple coats
It seemed to me like my paint dried out and cracked when the tires compressed hitting bumps and stuff. I wonder if oil based isn't the best and maybe something like latex that is a bit more flexible might work better.
I accept the fact that the lettering can be cracked/scuffed up... it's all part of a imperfection that gives it the rugged looks of a race car, even though my car is far from it. Only when big chunks are missing is when it'll need to be re-highlighted.
Are there chunks missing?
I figured when the car is rolling, tires will heat up making the oil base paint more flexible.
I don't know what else is out there that's latex base, if you find a solution... share it. I think getting a stencil made then painting it maybe the best option for longevity but not sure how it'll work on street tires.

Not sure about home paints since regulations keep changing but isn't the stuff at Home Depot latex based? I tried waterborne ppg paint and it cracked after a few weeks.
not reading 11 pages lol, but how long does this last? might do this to my slicks
Not sure how it'll work on slicks as some of the members didn't have the same results as I did on street tires. It depends on how often you drive your car. After one day of driving, I see cracks developing and smear mark on some of the letters but nothing crazy to where I have to touch it up again. If you're **** about the letters being perfect then it's not worth the hassle. My car isn't a dd anymore so the pix I took today is about 4 months since my last touch up (pg 9). IMO - I think it looks okay still. No touch up needed but will do when it's time.
EDIT: picture fail...

I stopped coloring my tires after the first 2 times.. Too much time and it gets dirty too fast. I'd like to see how the stickers look and how long they last, though.
They advertise these, their permanent ones, as lasting the life of the tire. They also say that they're cleanable with rubbing alcohol. Other brands have been known to turn brown after time or when using tire cleaners/waxes. They also have semi permanent ones, they're not cleanable, but they are removable.

A friend of mine sent me a link to purchase these permanent stickers. After my last set of tires, I haven't colored my new set yet due to the font and letter layout of my BFG KDW's.
A local friend of mine cut out some Idlers stencil... I was going to paint them on my new set but not sure how Idlers will sit on a nissan because they are known for RWB's. Still debating if I should go permanent sticker or the paint route which requires more maintenance.
Food for thought -- do they offer permanent stickers like these? I would so put those on my tires even if I'm not running Michelin lol.
