When I installed my coilovers I spent probably ~2 hours trying to figure out a way to wiggle the front driver side shock assembly out from the car, until I finally realized that I had to unbolt the spindle member from the upper A-arm and then the shock slid right out. As far as removing the spring from the shock, I found this to be relatively straight-forward with the use of two spring compressors attached to the spring at 180 degrees spacing. Crank crank one side, crank crank the other side, until eventually it's compressed enough to be wobbling around between the perches and therefore no longer loading the upper perch / hat, then hold the threaded rod stationary while breaking loose the nut and the hat comes right off.
It will take a weeek or two for the suspension to fully settle, it will go a bit lower once settled.Take another pic in a couple of weeks and you will see it dropped a litle more.
