EVENT #5 VQ AutoCross Championship @ Mineral Wells 6/12
Great day at the track Pat....fun times and very little people.....like 18-20 cars running. So the heats were like 30 mins each ! .....we got plenty of fun runs also.
6+6 and free runs after !
Stu, I'm glad you drove my car to see what good tires & brakes can do for you....and mine aren't even that great. You improved your time by just over 2 secs in only 1 lap in my car...Imagine what you'd do with more seat time ?
---------
Everything just seemed to sync up today....I had a great feeling in my braking & the wheels were handling great also.....I don't know if I had the right tire pressure or what ????..... But they performed awesome.
I didn't really love this course layout....but I think it was a good learning experience.....as every course is.
I would of loved to have seen this course expanded about 2x as large on the Mineral Wells site. We really on used about 1/3 - 1/2 of the total driveable area for the course.....not that there is the anything wrong with that ! I just like more speed with the driving experience. I think the fastest times of the day was from a Lotus Elise....go figure ! ....but he was in first gear thru out the whole course.....except for about maybe one whole sec on the back stretch.
I think my fastest time was a 48.142
You guys missed an Epic Day quick heats and free runs !

Yeah I didn't like how small and tight the course was. Those slaloms just killed me too, I could never seem to get through them quick.
I think my fastest was 54.6 and then and 52.2 I think in Chris's, but driving his felt like I was out for a Sunday drive while in mine it was like a constant battle against traction.
I've decided if I run any more of these I'll just do it on my stock wheels and tires, to hopefully burn those off. Then I'll either sell those wheels or maybe buy better tires to put on them, if there's anything good in 20" haha.

Emad, yesterday was awesome !
Stu, I saw your treadwear rating on those tires you were on....they said 420 !
Your gonna have to do a few drift events to wear those down.

Haha, yeah I think my old tires are more worn down though.
Man, you already got me looking at low treadwear tires in 20" sizes, which there aren't many of. No way I'm going to buy wheels now too haha.

I have to get them off my camera, but I'm terrible at it, and it always takes forever because I import them in HD. Not sure I need to though in order to get the 1080p quality. I'll work on it now.

Here's a preview. Gonna have to do the long upload since these don't come out in HD.

Nice run. What camera were you using?
I preregistered to go to a local autox myself on the 12th but overslept and missed out.

Would you say the GoPro was a worthwhile purchase? How versatile is it? Any negatives/cons?

Yeah I like it alot. Some people seemed to have problems, but I've had none so far. The buttons are kinda hard to press, so I was glad I actually recorded only runs and not me driving from the finish to the start. Only thing I don't like is you can't pick up sound at all. I've noticed if you use the open back case there's too much wind noise, and using the close case, like I did in that video, pretty much negates all sound.

Ok, so the sound problem is definitely there then. I read elsewhere that sound quality is crap but just wanted to confirm.
